November Cricut Circle Magazine Challenge

So every month the Cricut Circle Magazine issues a challenge to the Circle Members. This month the challenge is to use the Sophie Circle cartridge to make a holiday project(using at least 3 cuts from Sophie). Now, my project has a little bit of a story behind it... I have a kiddo who's almost 5(he'll turn 5 just two weeks before Christmas), and he's apparently seen 1 Christmas movie too many because he came out of his room about a week ago freaking out because Santa wasn't going to be able to bring him presents because we don't have a chimney for Santa to use to get in our house(we live in an apartment). I told him that we would leave out special keys that only Santa could make real so that he could get in the front door to leave him presents. He agreed. *Crisis averted*
Okay so that was a lot of quick thinking on my part, so then I had to come up with Santa's "magic" keys, lol, and I was dreading it. Then this challenge came up, and I started looking at the Sophie cartridge, lo and behold, it has cool antique looking keys on it. Voila! I had Santa's "magic" keys.

So here's the pics, supply & cut list are below.

Supplies:
Cricut & Gypsy using Sophie & Sesame Street Font
Echo Park Merry Christmas Collection(the 2 base pieces are 5 3/4" x 10 1/2" and 5 1/2" x 10 1/4")
White Sakura Jelly Roll Pen
DCWV Silver Metallic Paper(mine came from the Cool Linen Mat Stack)
a piece of chipboard for the base(5 3/4" x 10 1/2")
Fiskars Corner Punch(mine is the medium size)
Distress ink in Vintage Photo
Distress Stickles in Crushed Olive
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Creme de Cocoa
Olive Sheer Ribbon (1/4") from Joann's
Tulip heat set rhinestud in gold(2)
Scotch Quick Dry Glue
ATG gun
3D foam squares by Therm-o-web
hot glue gun

Cuts used:
From Sophie:
Keys: 3" I cut 6 using my Gypsy, I did 2 using the Silver paper and 4 using Kraft cardstock(for dimension & weight), and omitted the cuts where the hearts sit on the bottom 4.
Trees: 1 at 2.67" and 1 at 2.33".
Tree using Doily Feature: cut at 5.5"

From Sesame Street Font:
The entire phrase was cut using this font. I welded each word together.
Keys is cut at 1.15"
for is cut at 1"
Santa is cut at 1.30"

For the most part it's pretty easy to see what I did, I will say that the doily cut got a light application of Distress Ink(Vintage Photo), and once that dried, it got a misting of the Creme de Cocoa Glimmer Mist.
"Keys for Santa" got outlined with the white pen, and then misted with the Glimmer Mist as well.
The Trees got the Distress Stickles in the open spaces. I didn't want to leave the dark brown of the paper, but didn't want something obvious either, the Crushed Olive worked nicely.
Oh, and the hot glue gun was used to attached to keys to the doily(I tied them together with the ribbon first), and then I used it to attach the bows to where the ribbon attached at. I wanted it to look a little more finished than just the holes with ribbon through them.

I hope you like it, it was a lot of fun to do. Gavin hasn't seen it yet, so it'll be interesting to see what he thinks.

Happy Crafting!
Brit
