Altered Paint Can project

This is a very cool paint can I did for a swap over the summer. Each of the squares(I used core-dinations paper) were cut to 1 1/2", run through the cuttlebug using the d'vine swirls A2 folder. I then sanded the embossed squares and on the purple ones used stickles to add some sparkle. The green was cut on the cricut, embossed with swiss dots, and though you can't see it in the picture, the edges were distressed with a blade. The flowers are floradoodles white with rhinestone centers.

This is the lid, there is a purple under layer, followed by green scallops which were embossed(swiss dots), followed by a purple layer which was embossed(d'vine swirls), distressed, and stickled, followed by a blue layer which was embossed(d'vine swirls) and distressed, followed by one more blue layer that was embossed(swiss dots). The green K was done with the cricut & plantin schoolbook, and embossed with swiss dots. Rhinestones along the straight edge of the letter, and a small flower with rhinestone center on the bottom edge.

Great Escape Meme Contest Entry

This is contest entry for those crazy folks at TodaysMama and Cricut. Be sure to check out Cricut's cool new cartridges and the chance at $30,000 in travel for you and your friends at the Great Gypsy Escape site!

Great Escape Meme
1. If you could escape to anywhere in the world where would it be? I would escape to somewhere warm & sunny. I live in MN so it's not like that very often here. Maybe Hawaii, my friend lives there, lol.
2. What song do you play when you are by yourself in the car? Hmm, I would have to say either "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks(love it still) or anything that Taylor Swift has done.
3. If you had a night to yourself, and money was no object, what would you do? I would do a head to toe makeover, hair, facial, clothes, everything.
4. What is your guilty pleasure? Definitely would have to be Marabou Milk Chocolate. I only get it once a year, but I love it.
5. What is the farthest place you have traveled away from your home? Furthest I've ever been from home was Friday Harbor, San Juan Islands. I would move there if I could. It's beautiful.
6. Last book that you couldn't put down? Okay, so I've got 4 books that I couldn't put down, but they are a series. They are by Rachel Vincent, in order of series, Stray, Rogue, Pride, and Prey. They are about shape-shifters, read the first one, and I've been hooked ever since, I can't stop reading them.
7. When you want to escape into another time, what movie do you watch? Well, I love the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but I don't know if those count. lol.
8. What is your favorite local escape? I love going camping at my dad's trailer, it's about an hour north of where we live, and I could stay there indefinitely.
9. How do you escape on a budget? Escape on a budget? I don't get to really escape unless we go camping. Especially with a 2 1/2 year old!
10. Best food you've ever had while on vacation. Best food on vacation would be either cat fish from the CatFish House in TN, or Korean food from what used to be The Soul Garden, also in TN.

Today's Mama Contest Entry/Father's Day Fishing Bouquet

I know that there are a lot of bouquets done out there using the cricut, however, they are usually girly, with flowers & sparkly bling and other girly embellishing. I decided to put a spin on a bouquet and make it "manly" for my dad for Father's Day.

To make this you will need: a Cricut Personal Electronic Die Cutter(with Cricut Solutions Camp Out Cartridge & any cartridge that cuts an oval, I used Plantin Schoolbook), a Cuttlebug Die Cut & Embossing Machine(w/ Houndstooth, Swiss Dots & Distressed Stripes Embossing Folders), Cardstock of your choice(I used DCWV for the top color & Wassau Paper for the shadow), Colorbox Cat's Eye Fluid Chalk Ink(I used Chesnut Roan), sticks(I used bamboo skewers from the kitchen department of Wal-Mart, $1 for 100), gift basket filler(craft department of Wal-Mart carries it for $1), floral foam, a hot glue gun, dimensional foam dots, an adhesive runner, pen, sharp scissors(I used the Cutterbee scissors), and a planter or other container of your choice. Let's get started!

With your Cricut & Camp Out Solution cartridge, cut out the bass at 3 1/2", 4", and 5". You will need 3-4 of each size, depending on how many pictures you have. I did 4 of each size.
Now using the black out feature, cut out a shadow piece for each one using the same sizes and quantities as above. I used a chocolate brown to coordinate with my ink.

Once you get that completed, take each top layer and run it through your Cuttlebug using a different folder for each color and/or size. I used Houndstooth for all the 3 1/2", Swiss Dots for all the 4" and Distressed Stripes for all of the 5".

Next you need to take your chalk ink and ink the edges of each of the top fish layers.

Once this is completed, adhere the top layer to the shadow layer so it looks like the 3 pictures on the left.

Now using the Cricut again & your cartridge that you're using to make the ovals, cut out 3 ovals, 1 each of 2", 2 1/2" and 3". I tried a few different combinations, but these are the ones that worked best with the sizes of fish above. You can use any paper you want for these as you are just using them for a template.

Using the ovals, trace the section of picture you want to be on the fish. Do this with all your fish. Also, if you want a message, do an oval on just white or cream cardstock so you can write on it(I've done this on 2 of my ovals below).
*Tip* It's easier to figure out how exactly you want to trace your oval onto the picture if you hold it up to a good light so you can see exactly what you'd be cutting out. It's how I do all of mine.

Cut out all of the pictures, and group them together by size so you know which ones go on which size fish. You can see in my picture showing the 2" pictures that I have done 2 white ovals, this is because I'm writing a message to my dad on them. You can do this too if you wish.

Using your dimensional adhesive(I used 3-D foam dots), attach a few to the back of each picture.

Now attach the picture to the fish(pictures of all 3 sizes included).
This is the 3 1/2". Notice I inked the edges of the ovals so they weren't so plain. I also wrote the message before attaching it to the fish, it's much easier that way...

This is the 5" fish.

This is the 4" fish(the silly grinning little boy is my son Gavin).

Now, when you buy bamboo skewers they are a light natural color, I chose to ink mine so they coordinated with the project. I used my chalk ink again and just ran the pad up & down each one a few times until it was all covered. I used a scrap piece of the floral foam to hold them up while they dried.
*You can cut your skewers to different heights so they are staggered. I did, but I just kinda randomly broke the skewers as to what looked good in the container, so use your judgement.

You need to cut your floral foam to fit your container, if you have to use multiple pieces, like I did, you can't tell in the pic, but I hot glued the 2 pieces together for extra stability.

Now you need to hot glue your fish to your skewer. I just ran a line down the back of the fish & pressed the skewer in and let cool. Do this with all of your fish.

Here's what one looks like right after I attached it.

Now the last things you need to do is stick the fish into the foam however you would like them arranged, and then fill the container to the top with the gift basket filler.
My finished project is to the left. I hope you like it. If you need any help, please just contact me and I'd be happy to help!

Uh Oh,

So just a quick little funny story before I go off to be for the night. I was visiting my friend Tiff with my son on Saturday, and well, Gavin was being a 2 year old. He decided to climb on her rolling desk chair, and face planted to the hardwood floor of her kitchen. A few minutes later, he's got a big ole knot on his head, and we could see the bruise forming already. Poor kid. Well, he went to his grandma's for a couple of hours on Sunday night, and she asked him what happened to his head. He pointed at his head, and told her... "Maw Maw, head broke." I couldn't help it, I cracked up laughing just because he's telling her that he broke his head! So for the last few days, everytime someone asks him what happened to his head, he tells them that his head is broke. Silly boy, the things you hear out of 2 year olds with limited vocabulary.
Good night all!

Cuttlebug Challenges Be Inspired Challenge #33

So the challenge was to use a monogram. I did this cute little note card for my godmother, Lou. I used cricut cartridge Plantin Schoolbook for the circle & the letter "L", and used my Cuttlebug, w/ the folder "Blooms & Dots" on the circle, and folder "Swiss Dots" on the L. Base cardstock & the circle is Wassau Paper, and the stripes are from the DCWV Glitter Pattern Stack, and the green is also DCWV from their "Brights" Cardstock Stack.

I'll be back in a few days, probably with more projects since I'm in a crafty mood lately. Yay! Happy Scrappin' all!

Decide maybe I should show these off a little...

These are some LO's that I've done. The Halloween one is a traditonal paper scrapbooking layout, the other two are both digital.

I did this one for a Halloween Challenge. The cute little kid is my son Gavin. He was 11 months old, it was his first Halloween, and boy did he like those mini tootsie pops!

This is my son Gavin again and my niece Madelyn, I'm making a scrapbook for her. This was also used in the sweet challenge.

This is a page for Madelyn again. This is one of the digi layouts with the Swanky kit from Shel Belle Scraps. This was for a song title LO challenge.

NSD Weekend, wow!

So last Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day, and boy, while I didn't do ANY scrapping, I sure did do a lot of blog hopping! I think I hopped around 45 different blogs, checking out challenges/give aways. Thou, I was on Robyn's blog all weekend, it was just up in it's own window all weekend, lol. If you don't know who Robyn is, she's "The Pink Stamper", I love her blog and there was so much going on! Thou I think she "enabled" me to buy a bind it all. I want to make cute notebooks like she did over the weekend! That's all for now, gotta go fight my munchkin into bed now!

Awesome blog candy and blog!

Wow, so I was just at Steph's blog(Where'd All My Money Go- Confessions of a Paper Addict) and she is offering up some blog candy. Seriously wonderful blog candy. Up for grabs you may ask? A $100 gift card/cert to a store of your choice. Why you may ask? Because her blog has hit 10,000 hits! Wow, that's a lot of people visiting! Visit her blog(link below) for a chance to win.

On another note, I do have all kinds of projects in the works that I will be posting pics/directions of soon. Just trying to fit it in around the crazy little munchkin(and getting the projects done so I have something to show, lol). I'm kinda sad because I haven't done a page in ages but I've been doing other projects, so it's working for me, and I'm re vamping my scrap space here too, so I won't be a dining room table scrapper anymore. I'll have my very own scrapping area/desk. Yes, I'm taking over half my dining room to do it, but really with just me and a 2 yr old, how much space do I really need in my dining room for well, dining?

Hi! Happy New Year!

Hello everyone. So I became a blogger. Mostly because I thought it would get my ramblings out of my head, and allow me to show off any cool scrappy projects I've been workin on. There will be a bunch of that soon, because I'm getting my new Cricut cartridge this weekend, so I'm very excited and ready to start scrapping more. Well, it's 5:00 am here, so I should go to bed. Good night everyone!
