Wow!!

I haven't posted in so long!! I've kind of lost my scrappy mojo a bit. And I got bit by the crochet bug, hard! I've been crocheting near constantly. I got into planning as well with a Happy Planner. Who knew I could be in love with planning? I'll start posting more soon, whether it's crochet, planning or scrappy stuff. I miss the random postings. :-) Keep crafting! Brit

Growing in Unity Blog Hop

Image
Hi! Thanks for joining us for the GIU blog hop, if you got here from Amy 's blog then you're in the right spot. This is going up a bit late as I'm having major pc issues! So for the hop today, I'm showing you my massive project that I'm working on. I decided to make recipe books for a few people for Christmas and so I'm starting now. I'm using the Chilled Strawberry Soup set, I love it, it's super cute! I'm doing a few different cards into a single set. The set I'm currently working on use the strawberry, oven mitt and the heart.  I think that I'll end up with 20 or 30 of each card type per set. Such a huge undertaking. :-)  I hope you liked my project, don't forget to leave a comment, 2 commentators from the hop will win some Unity stamps. Thanks for stopping by, the next blog on the hop is Carisa .  Brittany

Kraftin' Kimmie Guest DT tryout

Image
So Kim over at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps completely rocks and opened up a guest design team contest! I knew that I would actually have time to participate for the full month this time around and so decided to throw my hat in the ring. Here are the two projects I did. I kept it pretty simple and decided to focus on the stamps instead of doing a super detailed background.  The first stamp set I decided to use was Happiness is Reading. I kind of adore the little boy image in this set, he's so happy with his books and puppy! I used papers from the Echo Park "That's My BOY" Collection. They worked so well with this stamp. The second image I decided to use was Look for Rainbows. She's so cute, sassy and has great sentiments!  I used papers from the Heidi Swapp "Favorite Things" 6 x 6 paper pad for this card. I also used a clear Wink of Stella marker on the umbrella. The studs are glittered and are from the Imaginisce iRock line. Both ...

Fun with Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

Image
So I've been creating a lot with Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. Here's a card I did with the Make a Splash stamp set for the anything goes challenge on the Kraftin' Kimmie blog. This was colored with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush watercolor markers. All papers are from the Basic Grey Prism collection. I've been hoarding my Basic Grey papers but decided that this collection was perfect for this project.  It's hard to see in pictures, but I coated her jacket and rain boots with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic after stamping it on pattern paper. Once it was dry, I fussy cut it and added it to the colored image. I love how it looks like a real rain coat and boots!  Brittany

GIU Day 5

Image
Hi all! How does a week go so fast when you're having fun? So today is my final day as a Growing in Unity girl 2017 for Unity Stamp Company . I went completely off the page today and decided to do a canvas. I'm not entirely sure if I'm keeping or gifting it yet but it's fun. :-) Today I played with the Canvas Wishes set that was released in May 2014. I love this set, it's huge and so fun to use. I used it on a canvas that I covered using Dylusions Ink Sprays. I didn't ink the stamps, instead I used water to lift the color. The words on the bottom were hand lettered by me using my trusty water brush.  So much color and fun.... I kind of love it.  Don't forget to leave a comment today (or leave comments on the other 4 days if you haven't already) because I will be picking 2 winners on Saturday night to win some Unity Stamp Co. goodies! :-) Thanks so much for visiting my blog this week! Brittany

GIU Day 4...

Image
Hi again! I can't believe that it's day 4 already! So welcome back to my week as a Growing in Unity girl for Unity Stamp Company . If you're just joining us, check out the previous 3 days because every day that you comment is another chance to win some free stamps. So today, I continued my watercolor marker theme that seems to have taken over my GIU week with Spectrum Aqua Markers. I used them with the lovely " Lilacs & Birthdays {floral collage} " stamp. I adore lilacs and so this one is a favorite of mine to use for birthday cards. I went totally CAS for this one just because I like it best this way. I am normally someone who uses lots of paper layers, but sometimes the stamp just calls for nothing else added.  Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win some free Unity stamps!  Brittany

GIU Day 3!

Image
Welcome! Can't believe that it's already day 3 of my Growing in Unity week! I'm having a blast with this week! I've got a super secret project in the works for Day 5... It's massive. However, back to day 3. Today I decided to play with an Angie Girl stamp. This is my favorite line that Unity Stamp Co. sells, I have a bunch of them and love them all. I have a card with an immediate purpose though for today. My bestie is having a baby girl in August and I'm hosting her baby shower in just 2 1/2 weeks! And of course I need to make a card, because, well, I don't buy cards, I make them, lol! So I decided to play with Stella Girl . She released in July 2015 and is completely fab! I'm pretty sure I never looked that put together when my munchkin was small.  These girls are so cute, I love them! :-)  I'm kind of obsessed with my different watercolor markers right now, I have 3 different types and I've used 2 different ones so far this week.  ...

GIU Day Two

Image
Hi there! Welcome back for my second day of Growing in Unity for Unity Stamp Company . Today I decided to play with my Tim Holtz Distress Markers with the one of the adorable Whimsy Girls. I love the Whimsy Girls, they're cute and super fun to use for kids cards! I chose to use Bella Whimsy{Blowing Bubbles} for my card today. I really like this card. I love the colors, and the burlap. I added Clear Wink of Stella to all the bubbles just to add some sparkle and some clear iridescent sequins on top of the burlap that gives a cool shine when the light hits it right. My niece will be excited to get this in the mail, she loves getting mail addressed to her. :-)  Remember to leave a comment for a chance to win some Unity Stamps, and stop back tomorrow to see what I've got happening then!  Brittany

Growing in Unity Day One

Image
Hi all! So I'm one of the Growing in Unity girls for Unity Stamp Company this week and I'm so excited! I haven't been able to craft much lately(college and a kiddo have been keeping me super busy) so this is a nice change of pace for me and is inspiring me to fit it in more. For my project today I used the Unity stamp set, Be Amazing . I love this set. It's been out for a while but it's still one of my favorites.  She's kind of amazing and I was having fun giving her purple ombre hair. :-)  Thanks for stopping by and check back in tomorrow for another project! Brittany *Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win some random Unity Stamps!*

Unity Friends with Flair

Image
Hi! So it's been awhile. I kinda lost my scrappy mojo this summer, lots of ideas but they weren't working in real life. I made a quick card tonight for Unity Stamp Co.'s Friends with Flair, it was my baby sister's birthday yesterday and I forgot to make her a card! Oh no. Luckily I haven't seen her yet so she'll never know. :-) She's obsessed with elephants so I decided to use the elephant from the Original You itty bitty set with a happy birthday sentiment that came in a Unity grab bag. Hopefully she likes it!  I'm pretty sure this is one of the simplest cards I've ever done, but I'm kinda digging it and the elephant is way too pretty. Thanks for stopping by! Brittany

Growing In Unity Blog Hop

Image
Hi Unity Friends! It's time for the Growing in Unity Blog Hop again and I'm so excited that I get to participate! We're focusing on the Sentiment Kits that Unity releases every month this go round and I got to play with the set called ...hello, thank you. It was the Sentiment Kit from July 2014 and it's pretty awesome. I ended up making 3 different cards with the kit(all with different techniques that I'll go into on another day, another project), and I love them all. I'll be using this set again and again, I think! So many great sentiments in it! So time to check out my projects! Here we go! Card One: I used a lot of Distress Paint on this one, both for the flower and the background!  Card Two:  I used Distress Markers with a water brush for this one, again, I used it on the flower and the background. Card Three: I used the Distress Markers again here but used them  direct to paper for the stamps and with the Distress  Air Spra...

Growing in Unity Day 5!

Image
Hi! I can't believe that it's my last post as the Growing in Unity gal! So today I used my favorite stamp set ever from Unity Stamp Co.! " I Miss Your Face ". I got it about 2 1/2 years ago and it's still my favorite. :-) It's fun to color and I love that you can use all the dress forms together or you can do like I did today and just use one. Here's my card:  There's all kinds of sparkle here, lol! I used a swirl embossing folder to add texture and repeat the swirls on the dress form. I love how this turned out.  So this is the last post to comment on to be able to win one of two grab bags from Unity. I will pick at midnight on Saturday night and post the winners on Sunday morning. That gives you all day to comment. :-) Thanks for joining me this week, if I've even inspired one person, then I did my job this week. :-) Now comment and then go shop the Unity sale! I did! Brittany

GiU Day Four!

Image
Hi there! Where did almost the entire week go? This week has flown right by. So this is day 4 of my Growing in Unity week with Unity Stamp Co . I sat down to do this card today and it kind of ended up as an experiment. It's cute, but not my favorite. It sure was fun playing with the sprays for the background though! :-) I love the stamp though, I used Happy Chick Birthday, I stamped the bigger chick and then stamped the entire image right next to it. Again, I used a Sakura Stardust Pen for sparkle. Here's my card: In real life the pink's are pretty close to identical. :-) Now, since you've been here, go check out the sale going on at Unity this weekend. It started today and it's awesome!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow for my last project. Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win! Brit

Unity Stamp Co. Growing in Unity Day 3

Image
Hi there! Back with Day 3 of my Growing in Unity week. Today I used Maggie Girl. I adore her outfit. I kept the coloring simple, no shading or anything, but added some fun sparkle with a Stardust pen by Sakura. Here's my card: Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win 1 of 2 grab bags from Unity Stamp Co! Brit

Growing in Unity Day 2!

Image
Hi! Thanks for stopping back in today for my second day as Unity Stamp Company 's Growing in Unity gal! My card today is made with an older stamp set, Life's Short... Eat Cake! which was co-branded with Simple Stories. This set is fun, I usually use it for kid's cards but decided to try it out as one for someone a little older this time. Here's my card! It's a little distressed, the paper was slightly distressed looking to begin with so I used my Distress Markers to stamp with to add to that look. I also added some sparkle just because it's fun. :-)  Thanks again for visiting, don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win some grab bag stamps, I'm picking 2 winners Saturday morning!  Brit

Unity Stamp Company Growing in Unity 2015 Day 1!

Image
Hi! I can't believe I've been gone for so long! I'm trying to get back into the swing of things and what better way than a week of being Unity Stamp Company 's Growing in Unity gal! So my day one post is super simple, I was trying to create something that could be "manly", my baby brother has a birthday coming up. I played with one of the itty itty bitty sentiments "Happy Birthday". So here it is: Inks Used: Distress Ink Markers: Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge, Gathered Twigs Distress Ink Pad: Shabby Shutters(just barely along the edges). That's all I've got for today. Leave a comment and don't forget to stop back every day through Friday for a chance to win 1 of two grab bags from Unity! I promise I'll post sooner tomorrow, my college algebra homework had to get done first today, lol!  Thanks for stopping by!  Brittany

Unity Be Inspired Challenge Take Three!

Image
Gotta say, I love that Unity has so many options for their Be Inspired Challenge. 2 Sketch Challenges and a Color Inspiration Challenge every month. Love it. This month definitely inspired me. So I'm back with my take on the Card Sketch Challenge, since I've already shown you the Layout Sketch And Color Inspiration Challenges. This is the sketch: And here's what I did with it: The stamp set is "Feel the Joy" which is from the Unity Stamp Co. Itty Bitty Collection. I colored it direct to stamp with Tim Holtz Distress Markers(Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, and Festive Berries for the flowers and Walnut Stain for the sentiment). Papers are from My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose- Mabel 6 x 6 paper pad. I'm not entirely sure who made the baker's twine, I've had it for a couple of years. :-)  So thanks for visiting the last few days. It's been fun, now to finish up baby blankets and make a hat for my niece! :-)  Brit

Unity Be Inspired Take Two...

Image
Hi there, so I'm back with another entry for the Unity Be Inspired Challenge for this month. This time I took on the color challenge. I had so much fun playing with the colors and while they reminded me of Halloween, I so didn't do anything Halloween related! I played with the Unity Itty Bitty "Matching Socks" this time, and it was the first time I'd really gotten to play with it, and I'm so glad I did! Those socks are fun to color! So here was the Color Challenge: And here's what I did with it! I added some purple and only used black for an ink pad color, but it was a blast to color!  Inks Used: Momento: Tuxedo Black Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Dusty Concord, Vintage Photo Spectrum Noir Markers: LG3&5, LV1-3, OR1-3, EB2, TN1 Thanks for stopping by today! Check back tomorrow, I'm hoping to get the card sketch done too yet! :-) Brit
